Patients & Visitors
At Lutheran Children's Hospital, we believe that caring for patients encompasses much more than the care received during a hospital visit or stay. This page includes information that can help you make informed healthcare decisions, including insurance assistance, and help ensure you have an overall positive experience. In addition, you are encouraged to browse the calendar of events and check out the career opportunities throughout the Lutheran Health Network and volunteer opportunities at Lutheran Children's Hospital. We hope you find these general information tools and resources helpful.
Visiting Policies & Hours
Children need consistency and assurance. Parents are a primary source of comfort and are always welcome in the pediatric and pediatric intensive care units.
It’s important that young patients rest and that they aren’t exposed to outside illnesses. We respectfully request that family members or friends who wish to visit follow these guidelines:
- Do not visit if you are sick (coughing, sneezing, upset stomach or showing signs of fever, diarrhea, vomiting, rash, etc.) or have recently been exposed to a communicable disease, such as chicken pox or shingles.
- Wash hands when you arrive and when you leave.
- Avoid visiting between 8:30 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Supervise children and teenagers at all times (during the months children are able to visit).
- Do not bring snacks or treats of any kind, since most patients are on restricted diets.
As a reminder, the pediatric units are closed to visitors younger than 18 from October through April due to an increase in RSV, colds, flu and other contagious conditions.

Parental Consent
If you're traveling and have to leave your children in the care of someone else, be sure they're protected. Always leave written authorization so your children can receive medical treatment, if needed.
Simply download the form below, fill it out, and leave it with your children's caregiver. An authorized form is valid for one year following the signature date unless the form has been withdrawn with written consent.
